Trent Franks Calls out Arpaio on Immigration

One day after joining Rep. Shadegg and Rep. Flake in calling for the removal of Neo-Nazi Precinct Committeeman (and Joe Arpaio buddy) J.T. Ready, Congressman Trent Franks said publicly today that the priority for illegal immigration law enforcement should be targeting the criminal and violent elements.

“It hurts my heart,” Representative Franks said. He later added, "I guess I want to emphasize that criminal, violent criminal activity should be our first priority. Not our only priority, but our first one."

I'm sure it’s only a matter of time before Arpaio somehow suggests that Franks is out of touch, or not tough on crime. Maybe Joe's supporters will even start attacking Franks for not being a "real Conservative." But really, such allegations couldn't be farther from the truth.

You see, Franks, while not as well known as some of the other members in our delegation, is without a doubt one of the most Conservative members of the entire GOP. On values issues Franks has been steadfast in fighting for the rights of the unborn. On fiscal issues he has taken the sometimes unpopular position alongside Representative Flake on the House floor during the wee hours of the night to call out a reckless Congress, bent on wasting taxpayer money for members pet-projects via earmarks. Make no mistake, Trent Franks is more Conservative and more Republican then RINO Joe Arpaio could ever be. Franks actually believes in the causes and issues that the Conservative movement and the Republican Party stand for.

It's great to see someone like Rep. Franks step outside the norm and call for sensible law enforcement and humanity on the issue of illegal immigration. Franks' statement may not be an endorsement of Dan Saban, but it does further strengthen my personal belief that crossing party lines to support Dan Saban is the right thing to do - we need to attack the criminal elements of illegal immigration, improve public safety and show compassion toward our fellow man.
